POLITICS IN CANADA
EARLY ELECTION POSSIBLE. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Tellgraph— Copyright.) _ OTTAWA, February 27. There is more than a passing chance that a Federal Election will be held this year in Canada, and that the Imperial Conference will be made the special occa sion for it. There will be two conferences, one to deal with economic questions of the Empire mid the other to deal with constitutional questions. The Prime Minister (Mr Mackenzie King), Mr Lapointe, and Mr Dunning have been selected to attend these in September, but an election upheaval in the meantime may change Canada’s delegation. The Conservative’s have raised the question of the mandate of the present Liberal Government to appear as spokesman for the Canadian people, and the Prime Minister may go to tbe country so that whoever represents Canada at these conferences may not labour under any handicap, and will be able to speak with authority for Canada on the far-reaching fiscal reforms which the conference is supposed to devise for the fuller development of Imperial trade.
