SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH. - \ RELEASE OP RESULTS. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph.— Copyright.) LONDON, February 27. (Received Feb. 28, at 5.5 p.m.) Bradford woollen interests protest against the release of the research results mentioned by Sir George Julius on the ground that sections of the industry and the Governments of the dominions had contributed to the cost of the investigations and therefore their Permission should be obtained before publication of the details concerning how the scientific application of the discoveries may affect the woollen trade. A message from Melbourne read as follows:—-An important development in the wool industry may arise from an announcement that is likely to be made by the Commonwealth Council 'of scientific and industrial research, which is now sitting at Melbourne. The council has been concentrating on the research ,°i the late Professor Robertson, of Adelaide University, who, at the time of his death recently, was conducting investigations on the nutrition of animals. Experiments and intensive following research showed clearly that success might he expected from scientific methons of treating sheep foods, the ultimate object being the production of a heavier and larger staple. Sir George Julius, chairman of the council,' stated that n complete success was reached the results would be made known to the world.
LEVY IN AUSTRALIA. MELBOURNE, February 28 (Received Feb. 28, at 11.50 p.m.) A proposal to create a fund by the levy of one shilling per 1000 sheep is before the Federal Council of the Graziers 1 Association. The object is the raising of a fund of £50,000 for research and the establishment of woollen mills in China.
