(Received Feb. 28, at 10 p.m.) Mr Baldwin, replying to a deputation to the Conservative parliamentary Agricultural Committee, announced his intention, when returned to power, of instituting a system ensuring to the farmer a guaranteed price for homegrown wheat of milling quality offered for sale, but the exact price must he further examined. He also promised, by prohibition or countervailing duties, to prevent the unfair competition of dumped or bounty fed oats regardless of the country of origin. He added that he adhered to his election pledge that only home-fed beef should be supplied to the Army, the Air Force, and the Navy in home ports for the six months from October to March, and during the six months following harvest 25 per cent, of the flour used by those services should be from home-grown wheat. He promised a full exposition of the Conservative cultural policy as soon as possible. °
