SUNDAY OBSERVANCE.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —May I be allowed a little space in your paper to point out an error in Mr Stringer’s letter concerning Sunday observance? While I agree with Mr Stringer that a day of rest is an absolute necessity and that the Almighty sanctioned it, Mr Stringer is surely mistaken when he says that God “has given this day (Sunday) as a day of rest and worship; in fact. He claims it as His own day.” If Mr Stringer will read Exodus xx. 10 and 11, he will there find exactly which day the Creator claims as His own day. and if he requires further evidence Matthew xii, 8, will supply it. If it would interest Mr Stringer to know who commanded Sunday observance ho will find the answer in the edict of the Emperor Constantine a.d. 321: “Let all judges and townspeople, and all artisans rest on the venerable day of the f?un.” — . I am. etc., I ' Vekitv. February
