TO THE EDITOR. Sie, —In view of Cr Lawrence's statement at this week’s meeting of the City Council that we should support local industry, 1 would like to ask him why the Gas Department vigorously pushes and recommends an imported gas cooker when a high-grade gas cooker is produced at our very doors. Is it because the department makes a few more pounds’ profit on the imported article, or because it is of opinion that what is made in Dunedin cannot be any good?—I am, etc..
