TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I have been instructed to refute the statement made by our member, Mr J. K. Simpson, “ that there would be no' complaints from this area provided a flat rate over the board's inner area were introduced.” Thie is incorrect. The pooling proposals are and always have been of secondary importance. The main issue is, of course, the calling in of outside asisstance with a view to introducing now methods and putting the affairs of the board on a sound business basis. The Lawrence area ratepayers’ executive will in due course forward to the Otago Farmers’ Council a memorandum dealing with the board’s official statement.—l am, etc., R. S. Thompson. Hon.
