FATAL MOTOR ACCIDENT.
FURTHER PERJURY CHARGE. (Peb United Press Association.) MASTERTONj February 28. In tbe Magistrate’s Court to-day Athol J. Buckley was committed to the Supreme Court for trial on a charge, of perjury and three charges of obstructing the course of justice. The charges arose out of a fatal motor accident at Mastert'on last October. The accused pleaded not guilty, and reserved his defence. Bail was allowed. Evidence was given that the accused had approached certain passengers in his car asking them to state that the number of passengers was fewer than was the case. Two girl passengers pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court a few days ago to perjury at the inquest by making false statements as to the number of passengers. They stated ' that they had been asked to do so.
