FACING BANKRUPTCY

Tragedy has overtaken another of Gerxm\y’% fomev ruling princes, Duke SaxoAltenburg, a member of an illustrious family which supplied the dynasties for half of Europe. He .is now threatened with bankruptcy and the loss of his home. The duke led a regiment in the war, and later commanded a division on the western front. He was invalided home ■with an injured leg, and was compensated by the Republic for the loss of his sovereign rights, but he received paper money at the period of inflation. The sum quickly vanished, and his debts accumulated, and finally he lived in a small shooting lodge, which the bailiffs are now taking possession of.
