OTAGO ASSOCIATION. MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. A meeting of the executive of the Otago Rowing Association was held last night. Mr P, J. Priest presided over a good attendance of delegates. The matter of lending an eight to the University Rowing Club for Easter waa held over until such time as the University Club can meet the wishes of the association. The Burkes-St. Leonards Aquatic Club wrote giving particulars of its forthcotnmg regatta, and requesting suggestions for the improvement of the programme. It also asked that officials should be provided by the association. The following were appointed:—Starter, Mr E. V. Fairbaim; umpire, Mr W. J. Wilson; judges —Messrs W. Robinson, W. Lysaght, and W. G. Glengarry; representative of the N.Z.A.RA., Sir P. J, Priest. It was decided to rearrange the programme in order to have the senior race rowed earlier. The followimr prize money was allocated as follows;—Youths, and maiden races, i2 and £1; junior, £3 and £1; senior, £4 and £l. ■ The Ravenabourne Club wrote giving particulars of its regatta, and requesting that the association should provide officials. It was decided that the same of£: dais as had. been • appointed for the, Burkes-St. Leonards regatta should act. It waa resolved to request the Ravensbourne Club to hold a senior race. In the event of its doing so the association would be prepared to subsidise the amount of the prize money. It was also decided to suggest to the club & rearrangement of the times of the starting of the races. The Queen’s Drive Club'wrote stating that it had paid its share towards frenchpolishing • the locally-kept boat, and requesting that this would be regarded as a donation towards sending the interprovincial eight to Auckland. The Port Chalmers Club had done the same, and it was decided to thank both the dubs for their action.

The _ programme for the New Zealand championship regatta was received. It will be held on Picton Harbour on Saturday. February 15. With regard to the New Zealand Olympic Association’s questionnaire soliciting support from local aquatic clubs, replies were received from several of these stating that they had decided to drop the matter. The association came to a similar decision.

Mr E. V. Fairbairn reported on a meeting of the Karitane Club which he and the secretary had attended. They had taken the liberty of suggesting a revision of the club’s regatta, and their suggestions had been received. The club wished to hold a regatta without outboard motor or swimming events. ' Feeling, was strong for holding- a regatta, but it was found to be impossible to .do so. as there were two dissenting factious at Karitane. In regard to the Macandrew Bay Club’s regatta, the Emergency Committee had allocated points, but it bad neglected to take into account whether the regatta was first, second, or third class. The points would, therefore, have to be revised.— Mr Mackie gave notice of his intention to move ‘at the next meeting that the motion covering the arrangement of the classes he rescinded, in view of the fact that in the existing conditions practically no first-class regattas would be held on the harbour. '

It was decided that the Interclub Eights Race should be held at Port Chalmers on February 8, the first race to be held at 2.30 p.m. between the Port Chalmers and North End Clubs, the second at 3.15 p.m. between the Otago and Queen’s Drive Clubs, and the final at 4.30 p.m. Messrs S. G. Styehe, W. Robinson, and J. W. Smeaton were appointed judges, and final arrangements were left in tne hands of the Selection Committee. The selection of the crews for the Upper and Lower Harbour Race and the date of the race were left to the Selection Committee.

Considerable discussion took place regarding the holding of a regatta by the Otago Association.—lt was finally decided that it be held on April 5, and that the place be fixed later. The secretary was instructed to write to the secretary of tbe_ Port Chalmers Regatta Committee, asking if, in the. event of the regatta being held at Port Chalmers, any- financial support would be forthcoming. The chairman said he wished to congratulate the Queen’s Drive and Port Chalmers crews on their success at the Bluff and Riverton regattas.
