CRICKET ASSOCIATION.

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Otago Cricket Association was held last night, and presided over by tho:;presiderit (Mr G. A. Wycherley). Abetter was received from the Kaikorhi Cricket Club pointing out that no material was supplied to the Otago Second Grade representative team which journeyed to Invercargill at Christmas, and that a bat belonging to one of the players,'who was a member of the Kaikorai Club had been used and broken. The writer asked that this be replaced. —The chairman expressed surprise that those responsible for organising the arrangements for the despatch of the team had not seen to it that it was supplied with material.—After some discussion concerning material belonging to the association, it was decided that the Kaikorai member be compensated for his loss, and that Mr Fraser inquire regarding the association's stock of bats. pads, etc. r Knox Church Cricket Club wrote claiming by default the match against High School Old Boys set down for January 3, the latter team failing to put in an appearance.—Match awarded to Knox Church Club. , F Mr W. B. Taverner, who had been written to by the association concerning a permit to hold an art union in aid of the association funds, replied that Cabinet had decided to issue four more licenses to hold alluvial gold art unions after the four current are unions had been drawn, which would be in June next. —Received.

The Forbury Park Trotting Club wrote stating that, as the association waa in a 1 difficulty in regard to fixing an alternative date of its carnival, the club would consent to its having the use of Forbury Park on March 15. Received, the club to be thanked. Mr W. Rowland pointed out that a trotting meeting was fixed for Saturday, February 1, one of the days upon which the Otago and Wellington match had been set down to be played.—lt was decided to telegraph to the Wellington Association, asking if it could see its way to alter the dafes of the match to a .week later.

The president extended to Messrs R. C. Blunt and 6. R. Dickinson the committee’s congratulations upon their excellent performances in the first test match and upon their inclusion in the team for the second test. Mr Wycherley remarked that Otago’s representatives had done remarkably well at Christchurch, and the Dunedin visitors to the match felt proud of them. It was resolved that the Burns street ontrance > only be used for the Ota-o v. Wellington match, and that the charges for admission be l s to the ground and Is extra for the stand: children half price; the charge to the ground after 4 p.m. on all davs but Saturday to be Cd. •

It was further resolved that the Umpires Association be asked to submit the names of four umpires to the Wellington Association, who would choose the two they wished to officiate at the match in Dunedin.

The luck had, as usual, not swung Otago's way. In connection with the visit of Mr E. C. Beale’s Auckland touring team, the chairman said that ho considered that Mr Beale was doing splendid work in organising these annual tours, and suggested that a letter be sent to the Auckland Association expressing appreciation of the visit and of the value of such tours.—This was unanimously agreed to, a member remarking that it was a pity tours of this kind could not be arranged for Otago’s colts. Mr G. A. Martin mentioned the nuisance caused by smoke from thc’rubbish fires on the tip adjoining the Carisbrook Ground, and it was resolved to ask the Rugby Union to have the fires extinguished' on Saturday afternoons. 1 Mr Martin also requested that the positions, of the teams in the various junior competitions ha published,—Referred to the Grade Committee.
