GAY BRIDGE CLOTHS.
The bridge hostess has realised Ion" ago that green baize, though restful for the eyes, often does not match the colour scheme of her luums. So now we plav on velvet, chenille, and silk casement cloth, in pretty shades to match the carpets and curtains. Canvas embroidered la "petit-point" is the craze in England for bridge tablecovers. The central design consists of n landscape or a spray of flowers worked on a green Ground. In the r.orners little groups of court cards are worked to give a brightening touch. It mav be :i i-on-polation to an unfortunate holder of n Yarborough to find a clump of honours in hearts or diamonds embroidered on her corner! Or it may add to her woes. . Quite a charming idea for a bridge 6upper table is to be seen in the home of a Wellington hostess. The mats on her black oak table are of pale green linen, cut to resemble hearts, snides, diamonds and Clubs. Each mat is iui.-lv large and finished with a pretty edge.
