THE ENTENTE CORDIALE. ' FRENCH WRITER’S VIEW. PARIS, January 4. (Received Jan. 5, at 5.5 p.m.) A writer in the Echo de Paris refers to what he calls “ England’s American Policy.” He expresses the opinion that the entente cordiale is now dead. England, he says, has no desire for a special understanding towards France. The Puritan spirit is at present uppermost, and the only thing for France to do is to await the turn of the wheel. Jan. 5, at 5.5 p.m.) The Navy League has handed to Mr Ranisay MacDonald and Mr Alexander (First Lord of the Admiralty) the cabled protest of the New Zealand branches against delay in the construction of the Singapore base.
