At the request of the Minister of Labour, a committee, under the chairmanship of Sir Donald Maclean, is en-gaged-in inquiries in connection with the problem of port labour. These inquiries have as their object the co-ordination and extension of registration schei s and other measures for decasualising port labour. The committee has already issued two interim reports, and has also communicated with ports urging the adoption of certain measures.
