i Sib, —-So the job’s done, and Mr Finder has proved conclusively that “everyone’s onto step but'oor Jock." Mounted upon his six-foot ladder, this St. George amongst the fruitgrowers has slain, singlehanded. the dragon which has been creating such havoc amongst the gentle growers of fruit.

Now he may enjoy his Christmas dinner in peace and contentment, satisfied that I have been duly “butchered to make a fruit-growers’ holiday," white I will be discovered humbly repenting my sins in sackcloth and ashes. Mr Finder will no doubt untangle these mixed metaphors in due course.

I decline to takq Mr Finder seriously any longer, as the subject has become ah obsession with, him. and it is not kind to irritate a person in that frame of mind, 1 oow leave him in undisputed possession of his field of glory, contenting myself with reminding him that I gave him u e ,'Y a *'m''g that people in glass houses should not throw stones..
