(Received Dec. 15, at 5.5 p.m.) At Avalon (Santa Catalina) Mclhorn was first with 63 in the first round of the Catalina open golf championship. Par for the course is 67. Kirkwood tied for fourth place with 66. KIRKWOOD FAILS TO QUALIFY. NEW YORK, December 15. (Received Dec. 15, at 11.50 p.m.) Kirkwood, with 136 at the end of the second round at Catalina in the Open Championship, failed to qualify, 134 being necessary.
