AN INDIAN HONOURED

ACTING AS GOVERNOR, LIKELY TO BE KNIGHTED. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) DELHI, November 13. Interest has been created in political circles in India by the appointment of Mr S. B. Tambe, a senior member of the Governor’s Executive Council, as Acting Governor of the Central Provinces, pending the resumption of office by Sir Montagu Butler. This is the first time since Lord’ Sinlia’s appointment as Governor of Bihar and Orissa in 1020 that an Indian has been given a provincial honour by the King. It is likely that Mr Tambe subsequently will be knighted.
