Mrs Susannah Crane, an inmate! of Edmonton . House, Edmonton, has celebrated her 102nd birthday. To mark the event, Mr C. J. Guv, the master, gave a tea party, at which the guests included three women aged 90 and over, four of 80 or over, and several “mere girls ” —as *•' Granny ” calls them—of years of age. ’‘Granny” bad her hair bobbed in readiness for the party, but in other respects she rather prides herself on being old-fashioned. She told a press representative that she went in a char-a-banc to Southend a year ago, but never wanted to go again. “ I "do not want to go to the pictures,” she added. “ and I would not risk my life by going up in an aeroplane.” * Mrs Crane was born at Whitwell, a village near Hitchin. hut lived at Bounces road, Edmonton, for the greater part of her life. Her husband died 40 years ago.
