BUSINESS OF PARLIAMENT.
YESTERDAY’S PROGRAMME,

“Do you want to he here until tomorrow afternoon?” asked the Leader of the Opposition (Mr J. G. Coates) in the House this evening, when the Acting Leader of the House (Mr G, W. Forbes) asked that urgency he accorded the passage of seven Bills. Mr Forbes said that such was not his wish.
Mr Coates; Well, you will be if you try that on. Mr Forbes: If the House is in a mood to put through a reasonable amount of work that will be all right. We are asking for urgency only to meet the wishes of a number of members who want to see the session brought to a close within a reasonable time. I do not say wo will get through all these Bills, but we are giving the House an opportunity to make reasonable progress.
Urgency was then accorded the following Bills:—Railway Authorisation, Rural Intermediate Credit Amendment Taupiri Drainage and River District. New Zealand University Amendment Destitute Persons’ Rest Homes, Counties Amendment, and Nurses and Midwives Registration Amendment.
