PACIFIC RELATIONS
DISCUSSION AT CONFERENCE.
THE MANCHURIAN QUESTION,
(United Frees Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) TOKIO, November 5. . (Received Nov. 5, at 10 p.m.) At the Pacific Relations Conference a discussion on the Manchurian question was opened in a tense atmosphere, but restraint and moderation characterised the Chinese and Japanese delegates. The former’s grievances and demands were outlined and illustrated and the Japanese explained the existing situation.
There was apparently a wide divergence of opinion, but an analogy to Extraterritorial settlements suggests the posbibility of a compromise. To-day’s work clears* the ground for a discussion of general principles and a study of the detailed problems during the next two days.
