RUSSIAN MIGRANTS

NUMBER LEAVE FOR CANADA

ALL OF GERMAN BLOOD,

(United Press Association.)

(By Electric Telegraph—Copyright,) BERLIN, November 5. (Received Nov. 5, at 10 p.m.) There has arrived at Kiel from Russia a steamer with 323 migrants of German blood, who are the vanguard of possibly wholesale migration of some of Russia’s best peasant „stock. They are the descendants of German settlers, who were established in Russia by Catherine the Great and Alexander the First, who intended them to serve as a model for the native peasantry. Though their example was not followed they themselves thrived.

The migrants continued their journey to Hamburg, where they embarked for Canada. Before departure they declared that life in rural Russia had become impossible, and those on State farms were just serfs.
