FOURTEEN DAYS’ IMPRISONMENTS

A , AUCKLAND, November 6 -9“ arrlra of „the Maheno from Sydney this morning Harry William Nel£ land, aged 30, was handed over to the police on a charge fo stowing away on board the vessel a t Sydney last Friday, He Emitted the charge when he anpeared.at the Police Court this morning, iJji’fP'v’' M’Carthy said that Niw. land , left New Zealand some -time ago, working his -passage to Austral.a on the Port Victoria. He did not S' id Australia congenial, and wanted to get back home to -New Zealand, so he stowed away in the firemen d quarters. Newland had no with which to pay his boat fare, there are too many of these stow*, aw ays, said Mr F. K. Hunt, SAL, who sent Newland to prison for 14 days.
