DUNEDIN PRESBYTERY.

MONTHLY MEETING.

The monthly meeting of the Dunedin Presbytery was held yesterday, the moderator, the Rev. D. Heggie, occupying the chair. The commencement of business was delayed for a long time as a result of strenuous objections raised by the Rev. R. F. Fish to the minutes of the previous meeting as read. It appeared that Mr Fish had vigorously opposed a certain motion at the previous meeting, and objected to its record in the minutes as having been carried unanimously. He moved that the minutes be amended to include the fact that the motion was carried after discussion. After a great discussion the minutes were adopted as read, Mr Fish again stonewalling on the question of how his opposition was to be recorded in the minutes of that day’s meeting. It was decided to send a letter of thanks to_ the Rev. Lionel B. Fletcher in connection with his recent mission, expressing approval of his methods and pleasure at the results achieved. The moderator extended a welcome to the Rev. D. Calder, agent of the Bible Society, who was at one time a member of the presbytery, when he held the Mosgiel charge. The Rev. Alan C. Watson was appointed the presbytery’s convener of statistics. The Rev. A. C. W. Standage submitted a report on the religious education conference recently held in Christchurch, and attended by representatives of the principal denominations in the Dominion. COMMITTEES SET UP.
