Which will be opened on Monday The conference has been summoned by the Economic Committee of the League of Nations- for consideration bf the world coal situation, and in' particular sugges tions conveyed’ in an interim report, which were briefly as follows:—lnteruationajl agreements between producers should .’be ‘ arranged concerning output, markets,, and prices;' a special international committee representative of all . interests—Governments, employers, miners, merchants, and, consumers—should be set up; measures should be taken for assimilating, in not equalising, wages, hours, and social conditions of labour.;, and’ the existing artificial restrictions of trade iu coal and the artificial stimulation of production should* be abolished. H.‘ Thomas, Minister of Unemployment, td-day received at the TreasuVy about a dozen representative coal-owners, with whom he wished to discuss the question of selling_ British coal in Canada.
