(Received August 19, at 10 p.m.) The death is announced of Mr William Drake, aged 82. He was formerly a member of the Hansard staffs in New Zealand and New South Wales, PROFESSOR ARTHUR PEAKE. LEADING THEOLOGIAN. LONDON, August 19. (Received August 20, at 0.15 a.m.) The death is announced of Professor Arthur Peake.—Australian Press Association—United Service. Professor Arthur Samuel Peake has been Hylands Professor ■ of Biblical Exegesis in Victoria University, Manchester, since 1904; tutor in - Hartley Primitive Methodist College, Manchester, since 1892; and editor of the Holboru Review since 1919. He was president of the National Free Church Council in 1928. MR JOSEPH BLACKEY. An old settler of the Wellington district, Mr Joseph Blaekey, late of Pahautanui, passed away at Eastbourne recently at the age of 89. He settled in the district in 1855, and was occupied in farming in the Horokiwi Valley. Mr Blaekey joined the militia in 1858, and served also in Wanganui with the Wellington Defence Force, under Colonel Noakc, and was in the cavalry for two ycais. He took part in the Hartley and Riley gold rush in 1860. He is survived by ins oldest son, Mr William Blaekey, of Eastbourne.
