REAL ESTATE INSTITUTE
An enjoyable social evening was spent in the Somerset Lounge on Friday by the members of the Real Estate Institute of Otago and their staffs. The gathering was a large and' enthusiastic one. The chairman (Mr L. Deans Ritchie) explained that the object of the gathering was ..to let the various members become better acquainted with each other, and that with a view to making the gathering of educational as well as of social value Mr J. M, Paterson (examiner for the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand) had been asked to, give a short address. Mr Paterson gave an interesting chat on the land laws of New Zealand and other countries, with special reference to the Land Transfer Act, and received the hearty thanks of those present for what was an exceedingly interesting address. Several toast? were honoured, and-musical items were rendered by the Harris brothers, Mr J. Paterson’s quartet party, and Messrs F. Jones, J. Paterson, H.*M‘Callum, and F. T. Basire. Major Lampen entertained with short stories.
