OTAGO HUNT CLUB

MEET AT BROCKVILLE. Saturday afternoon turned out fine, but a cold wind and intermittent rain showers were in evidence for the Otago Hunt Club’s weekly meet, which was held over the properties of Mrs Magorian and Mr X. Dalziel, a-t “ Mount Grand,” Brockville, There was a good muster of followers, but the attendance of spectators was one of the smallest seen this season. An unfortunate accident happened on the way to the hunt. When the hounds were walking up the Brockville road,'a stray dog appeared on the scene, which the hounds immediately made after, and in endeavouring to check them the whip (D. O’Connell) was thrown rather heavily on the roadside through his horse stumbling, when galloping after the bounds. O’Connell was conveyed to the Hospital, biit after receiving medical attention he was able to go to, his home. It is understood that no bones were broken, his injuries consisting of bruises and a severe shak- : ing. The deputy master (Mr H. S. Jones) acted as whip for the run. An excellent run of about three miles had been arranged over a course of 16 jumps, consisting of gorse hedges, post and rails, and road doubles. There was good going and the exhibition of jumping, therefore, was of a high standard. There were a couple of falls during the run, but, fortunately, neither the riders nor horses were injured. Among those following Were:—The-mas-ter (Mr J. N. Murdoch) on Toi Toi, deputy master (Mr H. S. Jones) on Tornado. huntsman (F. Kydd) on John Peel. Mrs T. Dalziel’ on Chrysler, Mrs J' MTvay on Lucky. Miss Z. Rutherford on Kismet. Miss M. Statham on Red Rata. Miss E. Greenslade on M’Gregor, Miss E Smytho. on Red Art. Miss Thomas on Jenny Lynd, Miss Matheson on Calm, Miss D.
