HARRIERS.

■ - ST. HILDA CLUB, - The St, Hilda. Harriers held their race for the Bell Memorial , Cup over a strenuous cross-country course of sis miles. The boisterous weather was probably responsible for the poor attendance, only 13 members competing. The limit man, R. Churchill, started off at- a good pace, the others' following at intervals. At. the commencement of the second lap F. Greenfield had displaced Churchill, and gradually increased his lead. The race resulted: F. Greenfield (Grain) 1, R. Churchill (6min 30sec) 2, C. Tidey (smin 30see) 3. The fastest time was put up by C. Pope. ANGLICAN , CLUB. | The Anglican Harriers held their weekly, run from the Mornington School. Paper was dispensed with and the pack, under the whistle of Captain Gale, followed the Mill road .down the Kaikorai Valley and then crossed some good harrier country towards Mount Grand, thence toawards the Burnside reservoir, eventually rejoining the Kaikorai Valley road. The run home was held from the Roslyn Woollen Mills, the first home being Gale, Russell, and Taylor. CARGILL ROAD CLUB. I The run of the Cargill Road Methodist Harriers was held from the Methodist Church, Port Chalmers. • Paper was dispensed with, and the pack, under the whistle bt M. MTndoc, had an excellent run. - The trail led on to the Port Cbal-mefs-Dunedin road and followed the road to, the top of the Sawyers’ Bay hill Here the pack followed the Upper-Junc-tion road till near the top, when they branched across .country and down the hill into Sawyers’ Bay. A fast' run home resulted: M’Keich 1, Sanders 2,-M‘ludoe 3. ABBOTSFORD AND LEITH CLUBS. ■ The Abbotsford and : Leith. Harriers : combined in a run from the Abbotsford Methodist‘ Church, The hares; H. Masters ' (Leith) and E. Woblsey (Abbotsford),led a good trail along the Br’ghton road, to R. Thomson’s farm, then across country, to Green .Island Beach, thence along the seashore to Black Head, and on to the road up to the St. Clair golf links and back to Green Island past Adams’s farm. The paper was lost about Half-. way, and the pack ,was divided into two, and both packs followed their respective captains. . In the fast pack Parker and Anderson (Leith) were first home. PACIFIC CLUB. .The Pacific Harriers ran from Port ■ Chalmers: oh Saturday, and the members bad their afternoon’s sport somewhatmarred by the inclement weather. Nevertheless, a good training run was indulged in by all present. The, trail ■ included plenty of Fill work, and in the run home from Sawyers’ Bay to Port, via the Main, road, the ' order ,af the finish was; MTiaren, Mouat, Traill, and Kennedy. ~ ST. PATRICK’S CLUB. A large attendance’of members was present at the St. Patrick’s School to partake in what was virtually the last run of the. 1929 Beason..the remainder of the syllabus being devoted to competitive events. The hares-rJ- W. Geddes. and W. C.M'Donnell—laid the paper over easy country. The pack, under the whistle of Captain F. : J. Bradley, followed: the trail down Fingall street and High street, along Queen’s drive to Lovers’ lane, which was followed en , route ,to . Tomahawk. The trail then led. up pn to Highdiff road, and thence Via Waverley to, the. Lower Portohello road, which., was followed - back to' Anderson’s Bay road, where the run home commenced, R. Phelan and J. Daly leading the, pack home‘after a 1 spirited race. HANOVER BAPTIST CLUB. The concluding sports ‘ meeting of the Hanoyer Baptist Club took place at Forbury Park on Saturday afternoon. ■ The large number of members produced excellent competition, and the spectators and supporters of the . club wore treated to good fare. -The times over the track and distances in the field’ events were normal, considering- the. ■ track being drenched with fain. Race course, under, very threatening weathoi conditions. An excellent, field, of-. 33 runners lined up to.contest-the event, which was started by .the club president- (Mr 1 M. Brown). The runners started at a good-solid pace,; J;. J. Morris, and- J. W Tapp immediately, running to the front These two ran within a few yards of one another up the hill to the .summit, and until the course, staffed'downhi]| again Here J..W. Frye., Tapp maintained his lead to - ',the .far .corner of- the course; where - a patch of gorse was Encountered which caused, many minor leg injuries.
