CRUELTY TO A HORSE.
LEFT WITH INSUFFICIENT FOOD. ONE MONTH’S IMPRISONMENT ■/ IMPOSED. (Per United Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, August 11. In the Police Court yesterday • morning Thomas Hussey, who was charged with being the owner of a .horse and failing to supply it with adequate food, pleaded guilty and elected to be dealt with summarily, " Senior Sergeant Fox said that Hussey tied his horse up in a section in Spey street for several days, and it had remained there until the police took possession of it on Friday morning. Hussey had bought sixpence worth of chaff, which was all the horse had had during that time; He then went away and bought a keg of beer and got drunk. Hussey was naore or less of a nuisance in the town, and he and his horse created a great deal of attention. Senior Sergeant Fox said he thought that a term of imprisonment should be imposed. Hussey was not fit to be at large, and he made no honest effort to obtain work.. The magistrate sentenced Hussey to one month’s imprisonment.
