PUBLICATION OF NAMES.
A MAGISTRATE’S 'VIEW. PART OF THE PUNISHMENT. (Per United Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., August 10. In the Police Court, Henry Brewerton Harford, aged 24, pleaded guilty to the theft of £2B, the property of Combined Motor Services, and was admitted to probation for two years. An application for the suppression of the name was refused, the magistrate stating that in his opinion ‘‘■he right of suppression should only be exercised for juveniles. The publication of names was part of the punishment, particularly where probation was granted instead of imprisonment.
