A MINER’S DEATH. KILLED BY FALL OF COAL. (Special to Da»lt Times, j AUCKLAND, July 27. A fatal accident occurred at the TauPii'i Coal Company’s mine at Rotowaro at about 9 o’clock on Friday night when aamuel Broadbent, aged 50. a miner, lost his life in a fall of coal. Broadbent was engaged with a mate, Joseph O’Brien, in the hazardous task of extracting pillar coal when, without warning, a fall took place and he was buried under a mass of coal. O’Brien was caught by the fall but was vjitricated by a trucker, H. Henderson, suffering from abrasions on one leg and severe shock.. Willing hands worked frantically to reach Broadbent, but the weight on his chest caused asphyxiation, and he was dead when he was extricated Irom the debris.
