There was a brilliant assemblage of prominent personages. in. business, religious, social, and political groups, who witnessed the presentation of the medal by Cardinal Hayes at the Notre Dame Club. A letter from President Hoover was read, in which he said that Mr Smith xyas “a distinguished American and a great public servant.”—Australian Press Association.
