SOUTH OTAGO HOSPITAL ELECTION.

TO THE EDITOR. Sib, —Mr Jasper Clark (chairman of the South Otago Hospital Board) recently stated that the sanction of bis board was not required, if a South Otago patient who could pay his own maintenance, wished to take advantage of the better equipped Hospital at Dunedin. He has stated that such a patient would experience no’ difficulty in gaining admission to the Dunedin Hospital. I can assure Mr Clark that my own personal experience' proves that that is not so. Mr Clark knows that it has been ruled that South Otago patients cannot be admitted to the Dunedin Hospital without his board’s approval. _ The present state of affairs calls for immediate correction. — I am, etc., John Hamilton. Milton, May 6.
