IZARD SISTERS’ RECITAL.
. rj J e final concert on Saturday evening in Burns Hall which brought the all too brief season of the Misses Izard to a close amply demonstrated that these celebrated English artists possesses the gift of musical interpretation in a very high degree. It was more than clever technique and beautiful tones which captivated those who were privileged to be present. There was a delightful feeling of being stirred to a much deeper extent than through the ordinary senses. This was particularly noticeable in the “ Chants d’Espagne,” the “ Lark Ascending,” and in the unaccompanied duets in which those gifted sisters fairly entranced their audience. Almost every item on the programme was encored, and the many beautiful floral tributes indicated that the performers had won many hearts during their short sojourn in this city. Mr Ernest Empson again presided at the piano, and contributed much to the success of what must be regarded as an outstanding musical treat.
