LONDON, May 4, (Received May 5, at 7 p.m.) In a match against South Africa, Leicester scored 208 (Shipman 58, Dawson- 58). South Africa have lost two wickets for 67 (Siedle 28, Taylor 23). THE COUNTY MATCHES. LONDON, May 3. At Lord’s Marleybone in their first innings scored 227 (Shepherd five wickets for 35), and in their second 216 (Crawley, 71; Shepherd four for 55). Surrey in their first innings made 245 (Sandham 95; Jupp five for 64), and in their second .142 (Jupp five for 63, Pickthall four for 30). Marylcbone won by 56 runs. At Cambridge Yorkshire in their first innings scored 420 (Oldroyd 111, Mitchell 85, Barber 74; Blundell six for 99). Cambridge in their first inings scored,2ll, and followed on, scoring 425 for seven wickets (Block 90, Grant 85, Turnbull 167, not out). The game was drawn. (Blundell is an cxNew Zealander.) At Nottingham, in a friendly match, Nottingham in their first innings scored 238 (Whysali 11, not out; hiichols five for 61), and in their, second 250 for eight wickets, declared (Walker Id.) • Essex in their first innings made 183 (Larwood four .wickets for 2U> and in their second 213 (Nichols 83). (Received May 5, at 5.6 p.m.) Field-marshal Lord Plumer wag yesterday elected president of the Marylebone Cricket Club. He has been a member for many years, and has taken a very keen interest in cricket, both from the executive and the sporting viewpoint.
