OTAGO WINTER SHOW
In addition to the home industry section of the Otago A. and P. Society’s Winter Show, which has always been well Supported, it has been decided this year to add a class for the best double turnover loaf of white bread. The competition is open to master bakers in the South Island, and the Dominion Compressed Yeast Company, of Christchurch, is offering a trophyvalued at 25 guineas. .To place all exhibitors on an equal footing in regard to the time of baking, all exhibits of bread must be either delivered to the society’s office or sent through parcel post not later than Thursday, May 30. An extra class has been added for the best six Arran Chief table potatoes, exhibited from the Boys’ and Girls’ of the Tokomairiro Club. The committee and the Agricultural Department have arrived at a satisfactory agreement in regard to the space required for making a Government'agrieultural display. The Auckland Winter Show Committee has asked the society to arrange for a display of roots at its Winter Show. These exhibits will not be for competition, but to give the farmers in that district an opportunity of comparing the classes of roots grown in Otago to the north. The Space Committee has been compelled to decline a number of applications for space until such time as it is able to know exactly what space will be required to provide the necessary accommodation for stock and the necessary exhibits entered for competition.
