DRUIDISM.

The bad weather of Monday evening interfered to some extent with the attendance at the meeting of Otago Lodge No. 1. V.A. Bro. Barton occupied the chair, in the absence of the A.D., and carried out the duties in a very able manner. It was resolved that the. lodge enter a team in the Ross Stewart Shield competition, to be conducted by the R.A. Chapter. It Was also decided to invite the Lady Foresters to a “-hard-up night and mock auction,” to be held next meeting night. The U.F.S. Dispensary annual report was laid before the members, and formed the subject of a good deal of discussion. The bards’ report disclosed a good deal of sickness amongst the members, sick pay being proportionately high. The fortnightly meeting of Linden Lodge was presided over by J. P. A. Bro. Owens, a good attendance of officers and members being present. An invitation from Lily of-the Valley Lodge for May 8 was accepted, and, after the bards had given their report and sick pay was passed for payment, the lodge was adjourned to enable the lady friends of Linden Lodge an opportunity of entertaining the members at a social evening. The programme took the form of a dance, interspersed with games. During intervals in the programme items were given by the following:—Mrs Woods, musical monologue; Miss Woods, recitation; Bro. E. H. M'Farlane, solo; Bro. A. R. Rankin, recitation. Enterprise Lodge held its meeting last Wednesday, with a good attendance of members. During the evening one candidate was initiated into the mysteries of Druidism by the team picked for the Ross Stewart Shield competition. Sick pay to the amount of £25, and several accounts were passed for payment. Bro. T. H. Mann tendered his resignation as a member of Progress Juvenile Lodge Executive, and Bros. W. D. Floekton and D. Martin were appointed in his stead. A report on the recent Grand Lodge meeting was given by the appointed delegates, who were accorded a hearty vote of thanks for their services. The new rules governing play for the euchre shield of No. 2 district were adopted by the lodge. The annual report of the U.F.S. Dispensary wag received, and the retiring delegates wore again appointed to represent the lodge.
