(Pun United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 3. Cabinet has accepted the tender of (Messrs A. S. Paterson and Co. for a No. 4 generator for tlie Arapuni hydroelectric works. In the Magistrate’s Court William George O’Brien, company manager, was charged with failing to account for £2l 12s 7d to the Colonial Motor Companv, Ltd., Auckland, and was remanded to appear at Auckland on May 10. The chief detective said there ‘were other charges involving £SB. UHRISTCHUKCH, May 3. When Leonard George Winnicott was fined 20s and costs at Christchurch today for negligent driving, the poli'ce said he drove erratically along Victoria stieet early in the morning, ran on to the footpath, and shore away five veranda posts, causing £2B of damage. The accused’s explanation was that he could not sleep, so ho went for a drive. His steering gear was faulty.
