HAWERA.—There were 11 candidates for nine seats on the Hawera Borough Council, those successful being Messrs E. Morrissey. W. G. Strange, J. M. Townsend, W. G. Walkley. G. J. Bayley. W. G. Simpson, A.* Reid (re-elected), A. K. Fyson, and A. K. North. RICHMOND.—For the mayoralty: H W. Kelly 255, J. Hune 217. HOKITIKA.—For the mayoralty Mr George Perry was re-elected, polling 409 votes, H. M. Coulson 386. and W. Jeffries 265. ASHBURTON.—Mr R. Galbraith was re-elected Mayor for his eighth term, defeating the Deputy Mayor, Mr W. H. Woods, by 829 to 695 The old council was returned, one new member occupying Mr Woods’s seat. Dr Wells, who criticised expenditure, was elected to the Hospital Board, defeating Mr F. Pritchard by a large majority. WATMATE.—PubIic endorsement of Mayor G. Dash’s progressive policy was given in his return unopposed and in the election of his full ticket for the council; Dr Wylie, F. T. Wallace, G. Richardson, J. B. Robinson, W. G. Paul, D, MacDonald.
