APPOINTMENTS AND AWARDS. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 2. The appointment of Mr G. T. Clendon, of Rawene, Hokianga, to be coroner is gazetted to-night. Mr F. C. Penfold, of North New Brighton, Christchurch, is appointed a justice of the peace. The Gazette also announces the award of the colonial auxiliary forces’ officers’ decoration to Lieutenant-colonel G. E. Hercus, D. 5.0., N.Z. Medical Corps; and to Lieutenant W. L. Gibson, retired list, and colonial auxiliary forces’ long service medal to Corporal E. Laking, of the Nelson-Marlborough Mounted Rifles.
