JUNGLE MONARCHS
LIONS AND TREE CLIMBING. CONVINCING PICTURES. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, April 30. Do lions climb trees? is a long-debated question which is definitely settled by the publication in The Times of a remarkable series of big game close-ups taken in the wilds of Kenya and Tanganyika by Colonel W, Maxwell. One lion is seen resting ou the branches of a tree. Another is actually walking along a bough. The pictures show that they do not leap into the branches but woik their way up the boughs. The Loudon Zoo will shortly experiment to find out whether tigers are tree climbers. High branches are being placed in an outdoor cage with a platform at the top, on which meat will be placed.—United Service.
