RUGBY FOOTBALL.
TO THE EDITOR. Sib, —I have just to, band a copy of last Saturday’s Daily Times in which I notice a letter onVtbe subject of Rugby football. It is probably correct that an elderly person should, give advice as ‘ Archaic ” has done, and if he can point . to abuses in the' University Club as well as in others, good- luck .to him. Still, I think he somewhat exaggerates things. For instance, what does he mean by ‘ utilitarian purposes ” , and, "glorified technical school?”. Anyway, did not the '‘best girls” cheer him in his youth? Further, the question who shall play for the University Football Club is for that body to decide', but perhaps there is something in “Archaic’s after all. For instance, if the information given meby a .present student is correct, the sooner the dub sets matters right the better for its fair name. It, is common knowledge that at least one member of the A team has long -ago. passed his, student days. Can the public be satisfied that all is as it should be if this is true? J would like to know if “ Archaic ” possesses any actual facts. If his statements do happen to be true,-then it is worth while the University student authorities doing something, in justice to the University’s past clean record and to other clubs in the competition.—l am, etc., .
