ST. JOHN’S CHURCH.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of St. John's .Church, Roslyh; was "held last evening. The vicar (the Ven. Archdeacon" W. "A. E. Fitchett) presided over a good attendance of parishioners. ' ■ In moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, the chairman .stated that the finances of the church , w _cre in a much more satisfactory condition than in-the previous year, as this year a credit balance was.-shown; while a sum could be set aside to reduce their mortgage- liability. With regard to their missions ■ quota, ; which, was this year £67, there was still £43 Os Id required, and he besought all parishioners to give every assistance to complete'the ( quota. The jubilee year of. -the church ivould begin in June, and. lie thought that they should produce- a history, of the parish and put on record what had been done by the early pibrieers. The work of the vestry during the year had beezi .excellent,, and the. time and trouble it had spent, over the-; problem of the church restoration had been very considerable,: while its attempts to provide a really dignifie'd- place of worship had succeeded admirably. The chui’ch owed a debt of gratitude to the vestrymen, who had done their work faithfully and well, , .... The parish churchwarden (Mr J. Simpson), in seconding the motion,, stated, that although a great deal ’of money had been spent on the church, it had all been put to the best possible use. The had . done excellent work blit its efforts would hardly have been so successful had it not' been for-the sympathetic co-operation ’of the archdeacon, whose wide knowledge of church had been ' of " great assistance.Mr W. J. Davie and Mr J. T. Dawson also spoke to the report, after, which the motion was put to the meeting and earned. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The following office-bearers were elected for 'the 'ensuing year Vicar’s churchwarden, Mr W. J. Davie; parish churchwarden, Mi J. Simpson; vestrymen—Messrs 'Fic-M; Allan, N; H.- Browne F. L. Buttle, W. E. Earnshaw (secrecy) , ,L. W.Green, E. -Moir (-treasurer), B. J.. Rolfe,. E.- -L." Efotgatel and Dr A. R, Falconer; auditors, Messrs J. T. Dawson and G. 55. Lindley. A vote of . thanks to the chair terminated the meeting.
