(Per UniTEJ Press Association.) WHANGAREI, April 29. In the Magistrate’s Court - to-day a young married man named Ivan R. L. Brown, recently a fruiterer, who was declared bankrupt, was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment for having contracted debts knowing that he could not make payment. WELLINGTON, April 29. The relay of the Wellington band concert last evening was so good for practical purposes that the concert might have been given in the Auckland Town Hall. There was a slight continuous hum in some loud speakers, but the average crystal set owner heard no noises. The atmospheric conditions were not good for New Plymouth, the rebroadcasting being marked by a good deal of extraneous noise, but some of the latter speeches could be heard fairly well. GREYMOUTH, April 29. “ Madame Sonia ” was fined £2, with costs, for telling fortunes. She had two previous convictions at Christchurch. Two policemen were defendant’s clients, and were made extravagant promises. They paid her 5s each. To-day they asked the magistrate to order a refund of the money, but Mr W. Meldrum said he thought they had got their money’s worth. CHRISTCHURCH, April 29. As the result of an alleged burglary in a bowser station at Papanui on Friday evening, Gilbert Bannister Simpson appeared in the Police Court charged with breaking and entering and stealing £1 Bs, and was remanded till to-morrow. It is stated that a neighbour eaw two Strangers in the station • He investigated, and was knocked down. WELFARE OF MOTHERS HELP DURING CRITICAL TIME. What upsets an expectant mother as much as anything is the distressing morning sickness and consequent weakness and nervousness. While it is not always wise to interfere with a natural state, many expectant mothers have received much relief from Anti-Acido, which has stopped the sickness.
