.bitOM Our Own Correspondent.) PALMERSTON. April 29. GUN CLUB. The monthly shoot of the Palmerston Uun Club took place on Saturday afternoon, in fine weather. The markstnanship was poor. The - trophies were two solid leather suitcases, presented by Messrs Joe Roy and J, R. Roy. There were 16 competitors, and it was a 15-bird g ß **-. G - c °utts (10yds), 6. Roberts (15yds), and G. Snushell (10yds) made top scores, each breaking 10 birds. 6. poutts missed his first “ lr “> Snushall broke eight more, and lx, Roberts seven. ' SCOTTISH SOCIETY. A meeting of the local Scottish Society was held on Saturday evening. • There wag a good attendance. In the absence . j c .,| lof, Chieftain James 'lichol occupied the chair. A visitor was present rrpm Middlemarch. Clansman Norman Matheson gave an interesting address on the hfe and work-.,0f Robert Burns, several new members were proposed, and arrangements were made for a Scottish concert in the near future. Clansman J ames Black was wished “bon voyage ,v on his trip to the Old Country.
