From Our Own Correspondent.) MILTON, April 28. TOKO HIGH SCHOOL. The preliminary meeting for setting afoot preparations for celebrating in April, 1931, the seventy-fifth anniversary of the establishment of the first State school in Milton, was not largely attended Nevertheless an initial committee was formed, consisting of enthusiastic members. With two years organisation ahead things are expected. The Mayor (Mr James Gray) was appointed president of, the Seventy-fifth Anniversary Celebrations Association,” with Mr A. E. Stewart as chairman of the Executive Committee. The following Executive Committee of five ex-pupils was formed (with power to add to their number)Messrs Edward Moore {secretary and treasurer). ct o Thomson (assistant secretary), Guy H.* Scholefield (records historian), A E Stewart and Mrs C. Nissen. Other subsidiary committees of ex-pupils will be formed as the arrangements progress. The initial sports meeting for the silver cup presented to the South Otago Girl Guides by the Dunedin GirJ Guides Was held at Balclutba on Saturday afternoon. Teams were present from Milton. Owaka Balclutba, and Tuapeka. The Milton Guides team, comprising Lesley Vidal, W. Savage, C. Henderson, and Dorothy For Colds in the Head, Chills, and Influenza, etc,, TAKE BAIN’S KURUKOLD. The South Otago banner competitions commenced on Saturday afternoon in hne but dull weather. Speculation was rife as to the prospect* of Toko Club’s three teams, owing to the great changes effected since last season. The First Grade team commenced the season by defeating Clinton (last year’s banner winners) on the Milton ground by 14 points to nil. The game, was uninteresting to the spectators, neither team having got into their proper stride.
