FRUIT FLY PESTS
DEPREDATIONS IN FLORIDA. ' (United Press Association.). (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) WASHINGTON, April 26. (Received April 27, at 5.5 p.m.) The depredations of the Mediterranean fruit fly pest in the Florida fruit areas, particularly .as regards citrus fruits, as the result of the introduction of the insect by rumrunners carrying fruit in their commissariat, have been declared a matter of national emergency by the House of Representatives, which to-day appropriated 4,250,000 dollars to fight against the .spread of the disease to other States.—Australian Press Associa-tion-United Service.
