Hector Robert Somerfield, a young man, was committed for trial on a charge of negligently driving a butcher’s van so as to cause the death of a child 23 months of on February 16. John Elliott, a taxi driver, was committed for trial on a charge of recklessly driving a car so as to cause the deathof Peter Rangi, aged 17, at Wiri, on Christmas Day. HAMILTON, April 11. A meeting of Claudelands Anglican parishioners held last night was marked by expressions of no confidence in Bishop Cbefrington. The committee elected is entirely hostile to the bishop. INVERCARGILL, April 11. Charges of being idle and disorderly were preferred against two men and a woman in the Police Court this morning as a result of a raid on a house in Fox street last evening. The accused were Harry Turner, John M’Gavock, and Ada Vivian Printz, and pleas of not guilty were entered in each case. Turner said Ije would admit being idle; but not disorderly. It was stated by the police that the house in question had been a source of annoyance to neighbours owing to the drinking which went on there and the bad language used by the occupants. When the constables entered the house, stated the senior sergeant, they found the female accused undressed in bed and the accused Thomas was found hiding in a corner of the same room. The charge against M'Gavock was adjourned for a week, the other two accused being remanded in custody for a similar period.
