A NARROW ESCAPE. - SAVED BY SPEAKER’S VOTE. I (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyrlgnt.) CANBERRA, February 14. The Federal Government narrowly escaped defeat on a motion by Mr Cole.man (Labour) for the printing of certain determinations by the Public Service Arbitrator, of which the Leader of the Senate had given notice of intention to move disapproval. The effect of Mr Coleman’s motion amounted to a vote of censure on the Government and it was defeated only by 36 to 35 on the Speaker’s casting vote. Four Ministerialists were absent, and Messrs Hughes arid Mann (Nationalists) and Stewart and. M’Williams (Independents) voted against the Government.— Australian. Press. Association.
