EARL OF BIRKENHEAD
POSITION WITH THE BRITANNIA, ASSUMING EDITORIAL CONTROL. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON, December 13. (Received Dec. .14, at 0.15 a.m.) The Daily Herald states that the Earl of Birkenhead will take over editorial control and will join the directorate- of the Britannia. A settlement is announced by the Chancery Court of Mr Gilbert Frankau’s action against the publishers to restrain them from interfering with him as editor and director. Mr Frankau has resigned, and it is reported that he will receive £12,000 in view of his long, unexpired agreement.—Australian Press Association.
A previous message read, as follows:—' The Earl of Birkenhead has Signed a contract with the new weekly, Britannia, to write exclusively for it for a number of years. Since his resignation there has been considerable speculation as to which newspaper would secure hia much-sought-after journalistic service.
