A special meeting of the Executive Committee of the Dunedin Returned Soldiers’ Association and the Social Committee was held last, night to consider the final arrangements in regard to .the Christmas treat for the children. Mr H. L. Paterson occupied the chair. Mr P. 'S. Anderson said that they had ordered toys, which had been largely manufactured by ex-service men at Home. They had received particulars as to the number of children, which was not quite as large as last year when 220 had been provided for. Mr Anderson enumerated the class of toys that had been obtained, and mentioned that Father Christmas, properly equipped, would be present at the treat. In the course of a conversational discussion it was stated that several people were prepared to; make cakes for the occasion. A number of subcommittees was set up. to attend to the various preliminaries. It was agreed that the function be held in First Church ground,' weather permitting, bnd if not in Burns Hall.
